Waiting

Welcome to the waiting game!  After round two of chemo went well, we have just been waiting for counts to rise and giving Eli blood and platelet transfusions when his counts dip below the acceptable levels.  His counts continue to be zero and will likely stay that way for a few more weeks.  It’s getting hard to keep him away from his friends and especially his little brother, but we might as well get used to it since a transplant will require months of Eli being ‘quarantined’.

Getting him to eat is always a struggle and he is down to 41 pounds (essentially the same weight as his four year old brother).  Last night I was cooking him noodles at 1am because that is when he gets hungry.  Back to the ‘stay up late and sleep in late’ routine I guess.

Eli developed a mouth sore pretty quickly that isn’t going away.  He used preventative mouth wash and has been faithful to rinse every day, but it persists.  They recently switched antibiotics to see if that would help.  He also had a fever for the first time Friday night, but it was relatively low grade and hasn’t returned.  Cultures are negative so far, so hopefully that was a one time thing.

Anyway, just wanted to post a quick update to let everyone know that we were still at the hospital in Blank.  Thanks to everyone who has shown him love on his Facebook page (www.elisarmy.com).  That site worked out even better than I was expecting for people wanting to leave Eli messages and post pictures of him.  Thanks!

Also, just a reminder that we will be ordering Eli’s Army hoodies soon.  I think we’re up to 20 hoodies to order, which is awesome!  If you want to sign up to have us order one for you, just go here for a brown hoodie (http://tinyurl.com/43rsgmr) and here for a green hoodie (http://tinyurl.com/42mgtpt). This lets us get an idea as to how many hoodies to order, which we will do in about a week.

Thanks for all of your prayers and support!
