Going our separate ways

So the last CarePage update I sent was in New York City and I had mentioned that we were heading home thanks to Corporate Angels. I guess I didn’t post to say that we had arrived safely at home, but we did. 🙂 Due to the weather, we had to land in Des Moines rather than Ames, but we still had our own private jet (just Eli and I) and they even had a birthday present waiting for Eli when we got on the plane. It was amazing. We have been back into school routines and such since we’ve been home, although Eli has been flirting with low red blood a few times, we have avoided transfusions (barely). We have also been weathering the snowy Iowa winter with lots of road plowing and a little bit of outdoor exploring. Here is a video we titled “Eli vs. Wild” after the “Man vs. Wild” show on Discovery.

One thing we didn’t think we’d be planning so quickly was a return trip to NYC! We were quite sure that Eli would immediately go back to being HAMA positive after his last round of 3F8, but we were wrong! We found out on Wednesday that Eli was actually HAMA negative and that they wanted him to start GMCSF immediately and be in NYC next week. Yikes! Glad we had some GMCSF left over from the last time! Also, next week happens to be the week I’ll be in Brasil for work (yes, I know I spelled it with an s and not a z, that’s how they spell it.) 🙂 SO, we had to start planning for Lacey to be able to take Eli to NYC for 3F8. They took off (by car) a few hours ago and I will leave for Brasil on Saturday (by plane of course). So prayers for safe travels would be appreciated on top of the prayers for Eli’s 3F8 to be effective. Eli will get to see quite a few of his close friends next week, so he is really excited about that. As soon as he heard that he would see Justin, Kate and Dakota, he said, “We should have a pajama party like we did the last time!” He never ceases to amaze us with what he remembers, because those were exactly the friends he had a pajama party with in NYC and that was back in May of 2009! Here’s a picture from that party:

So just a quick update to let you know that your prayers would once again be appreciated. Keep our other little friends in your prayers as well. Dakota is trying to get a plan finalized and Kate is recovering from a successful surgery after another relapse. I could fill pages with updates from all of our little friends. Thanks for being there for us. I’ll be getting updates from Lacey on how our man does during 3F8 next week. This will be the first time that I have ever missed being with Eli during 3F8. It certainly won’t bother him as much as it will bother me, but he couldn’t be in better hands than with his amazing mom. If all goes well, the next update will probably be coming from the southern hemisphere!
