From Last Night

**This post was supposed to go up last night, but I was having some internet issues at the Ronald, so I’m posting it this morning.**

Thanks for all of the prayers. Today went slightly better. Yesterday, Eli’s treatment ended around 1pm and he fell asleep. He literally did not wake up until this morning at 8:30am when I got him up to go to the hospital. Today was a better day for pain, but there was a lot more vomiting, so we are not sure if it is related to bowel problems or if it is nausea from the treatment (which we’ve told is very common). Also, Eli only slept from 1pm-8pm today and has been up ever since wanting to play games and read books. Much more like the Eli we are used to.

Some good news came out of our meeting with Dr. LaQuaglia today. First of all, we no longer have to do daily “wet to dry” dressing changes on Eli’s wound. It’s progressing nicely and is small enough that we can just put some antibiotic cream on it and cover it with a small bandage and we only have to change it every other day now. Also, we were able to end one of the annoying antibiotics that had to be hung on a pole three times a day. Tomorrow we get to stop the medicine that requires a trip to the fridge on the 2nd floor three times a day! That leaves us with one very easy antibiotic that is only 2.5ml once a day along with a stool softening tablet that really just tastes like watermelon candy. Since the Dilaudid narcotic slows down the bowels, we want to be proactive to make sure it doesn’t create problems.

I guess that is about all for today. We are looking forward to this week being over and having a few days off before his big dental work on Thursday, August 21st.
