Well, today didn’t exactly go as planned. It started at 4am when Eli was having quite a bit of tummy pain. Then every hour he was waking up with pain until finally at 6:30am he threw up. He always feels better when he throws up, but a few hours later he was throwing up again. So, down to xray we went and sure enough, there is some backup in his upper intestine. 🙁 So, guess who isn’t going back to the Ronald? To say Eli was bummed would be an understatement. The surgery team had a look at it and they didn’t feel that it looked like a physical obstruction needing surgery, they just want to wait it out a few days and see if it will move on through. Things are moving through, but for some reason not as fast as it needs to. So, Eli is once again NPO (can’t eat or drink anything) and we’re praying that whatever is stuck up top will make it’s way through. He has continued to throw up a few times today and if that keeps up, an NG tube is probably imminent.
The good news is that his dressing change (while pretty painful) went better today. We’re hoping that each day will get less and less painful for him. So, here we are, stuck inpatient for a while longer. Thanks for all of your prayers. We know we’ll get out of here someday!
