Happy Mother’s Day

First of all, Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all of you Moms out there! I have met some pretty incredible Moms lately to add to the list of the ones I already knew. Moms that are dealing with their sons and daughters going through cancer treatments, Moms going through their first Mother’s Day after the loss of their child, and Moms that go out of their way to help families dealing with the reality of having a child with cancer. I know Eli and Isaiah are very fortunate to have a mom that loves them beyond measure and would do anything for them. Thanks to all of you Moms!

One more day of 3F8 done and only four more to go (this cycle anyway)! Today there was definitely pain, but thankfully it didn’t last as long as it had been last week. It started with about 15 minutes left in the flush and stopped shortly after the flush was done, so maybe 20 minutes of bad pain. Only one Dilaudid rescue (the pain med), and believe it or not, he didn’t ask for it, he was just obviously in pain so they gave him a dose, which I was definitely ok with.

This weekend was fun. Saturday we went on a walk that was raising money for Neuroblastoma research. It is called “Kids walk for kids” and it’s a bunch of schools that raise money for Neuroblastoma research. I heard a rumor they raised $200k on the walk, which is great. We got to walk with Barbara and Stewart (and Uno), Eli’s buddy Griffin along with his parents and grandma, and our friend Bernadette as well as a few other Neuroblastoma families from the House. Dr. LaQuaglia spoke briefly and we saw Dr. Kushner and Dr. Cheung as well as some other hospital staff there. It was a good time. I’ll post pictures as soon as I get them ready.

After the walk, Eli and I went to Cafe Cinema with Barbara, Stewart, and Uno. We ate outside on the sidewalk under their awning and had a great time enjoying the weather and watching people go by. I had a marinated steak sandwich with fries that was VERY good. Eli shared a pizza with Barbara and Stewart, but he only liked the crust of the pizza. It’s in the upper price range with everything going from $12-$20, but the service was fantastic. They reserve some tables under the awning for people with kids and strollers. Barbara asked them if Eli could have some crayons and something to color. They didn’t have anything, so they ran across the street to Walgreens to buy crayons and printed off some coloring pages off the internet for Eli. 5 stars for customer service in my book (and those of you that work with me know how important the customer service piece is to me). 🙂 They also are very dog friendly as they quickly rushed out a grilled chicken breast for Uno who was famished from all of that walking. 🙂

Sunday we went to Central Park with Griffin and his parents and grandma. Our biggest adventure was renting a boat on the lake and rowing it all around (well, Lou and I took the boys while the girls patiently waited for us on the shore thanks to a 4 person limit). It was VERY reasonable at $12/hr and $3 for each additional hour. Neither Lou nor I remembered our cameras, so the pics I have are from my cell phone. Here’s a slideshow for you:
