This is just a quick one to share what little (but good) news we have from today.
First, Eli’s last day of radiation went great and he is officially done with radiation! Eli almost started arguing with me when I got him off the table today because he wasn’t so sure he liked the idea of being totally done with radiation and never (we hope) coming back. Radiation was possibly one of the easiest treatments he has had to have (plus he really digs their private little playroom).
Secondly, we received a call tonight letting us know that Eli is HAMA negative, which means we are on board for starting 3F8 next Monday! Beta glucan will start tomorrow and we’ll do 3F8 for 2 weeks starting 5/5/08.
Third, we briefly talked with Dr. Kushner about Eli’s CT results and he said, and I quote, “I think that there is little to no evidence of disease.” Real definitive, huh? 🙂 We’re convinced they really just aren’t sure exactly what is left, but they all agree Eli made great progress with the first two cycles of 3F8. We will have scans again after the fourth cycle of 3F8, so maybe then things will be slightly clearer than mud. We’re praying this radiation did some serious damage to the neuroblastoma as well!
That’s about it for now. It will probably be quiet for the next several days since we won’t be doing any treatments. Tomorrow afternoon we are going to the NY Mets and Pittsburg Pirates game. It will be the first time that we go and DON’T cheer for the Mets. Lacey’s cousin married Tom Gorzelanny, a starting pitcher for the Pirates, so we’ll be rooting hard for him tomorrow!
I’ll leave you with a video I made of our trip to the grand opening of Ciao Bella, a new Italian restaurant in Manhattan. They invited the Ronald McDonald House kids to come and learn how to make pasta with their head chefs, which was a blast for them. For the adults, they let us sample their appetizers, entrees, and desserts! It was a really good time, as you can probably tell from the video:
