Good Counts!

WBC = 1.3

ANC = .5

Anybody know what that means? We’re out of here today! YEAH! Man, talk about cutting it close. If he would have been .4, we would have been here another day. The doctor this morning came in and told me his WBC, but didn’t know his ANC! Oh the anticipation.

Finally the discharge nurse came in at 10am to talk about how we are going to get our GCSF shots for the weekend and to tell me how to administer his Vanco antibiotic. We have to give it to him at 1pm, 7pm, 1am and 7am until Tuesday. Hey, it’s better than staying inpatient! So now begins the task of moving all of the stuff we have accumulated in our room over to the Ronald McDonald House. I’m predicting 4 trips. 🙂

So, next week is scan week. Bone marrow biopsy is on Monday the 28th. His CT scan is on Thursday the 31st at 8am. His MIBG injection (which takes about 5 minutes) is also on the 31st and his MIBG scan is on Friday, February 1st. According to Kushner, we already know we’ll be trying 3F8 next, so unlike scans in the past, these scans are really not determining what the next step will be. These scans are helping us determine how much cancer is left to deal with. I’m not going to say we are completely done with chemo forever, but if 3F8 does what we want it to do, we won’t have to do chemo anymore.

That’s all for now, I need to start packing up all of Eli’s crafts, toys, books, snacks, games, movies, laundry, etc. Happy Friday to everybody. Thanks to everyone who was praying hard for Eli’s counts to come up!
