Well, another stressful week is in the books. The reason we weren’t sure if Eli’s bone marrows would even get done on Monday is because on Sunday night, Dr. Mitchell at Blank called to tell me that Dr. Woods had been in a car accident and that he was trying to get information on what was needed for Eli’s bone marrow procedure on Monday! Thankfully he was able to do the bone marrow procedure and he did a really good job. I don’t know the full extent of Dr. Woods’ injuries, but it sounded like it was a pretty serious rollover accident and the last I knew, she was still in the hospital. Please keep her in your prayers, she has been such a help to many families in central Iowa.
After waiting for results to come back from Mayo (where Blank sends their bone marrow specimens off to for analysis), Dr. Mitchell emailed us on Friday and said that there was no evidence of Neuroblastoma or Leukemia! Obviously that was the news we wanted to hear! Thanks again to all of our prayer warriors for being “on call” to lift Eli up in prayer. Eli’s counts have started to inch upwards very slowly, but he still very low. He had to have both blood and platelet transfusions on Wednesday. We are holding off on doing any chemo or anything else until his counts come back up and as Dr. Kramer says, “Hopefully this is just a slight delay.” Eli’s three month “workup” in NYC is being scheduled for the week of February 8th. Even though we just did bone marrow tests this week, they will repeat those and throw in the other usual scans like MIBG, MRI, urine, CT, etc. Hopefully we’ll be able to use Corporate Angels again to get a ride out to NY and back.
I just wanted to post the good news and thank everyone again for the prayers. I’ll leave you with some pics of the boys enjoying a few days where the temperature was ABOVE zero this week. Just check out the slideshow below:
