Home sweet home

I realize it’s several days late, but I wanted to post a quick update to let you all know that we arrived safe and sound from NYC. In fact, I would have to say that I couldn’t have asked for better travel success. I found a taxi at 5:45am within seconds and the driver was extremely helpful, all our flights were on time, our layover was only 35 minutes, and Eli was a true traveling champ. In fact, I was laughing at how much of an airport expert he is at only 4 years old. When he walks up to the security counter, he whips off his shoes and throws them in a tray with his coat and blanket and marches right through the metal detectors. Once he passes through, he goes down, collects his belongings and waits for me to finish repacking my laptop, cell phone, belt, change, watch, etc. He has also given up in asking me to carry him when he sees me carrying several carry on bags through the terminal.

We did get word back from Dr. Kushner’s office right before we left NYC on Friday. His words were, “The CT scan and MRI showed no evidence of disease.” 🙂 So, that just leaves us waiting to hear back on the bone marrow results, which might take a week or two. So while last week was a pretty rough week on us with losing three of our little friends to cancer, we were thankful to be getting good news for our little fighter. Another difficulty was the fact that our Iowa friends, the Larsons, were getting bad news about Coleman’s brain tumors which had grown. They are still in NYC trying to get a new oral drug treatment started since they no longer qualify to do the 3F8 to Coleman’s head, so please keep them in your prayers.
Eli had fun tonight trying out the new video chat feature in Gmail with Uncle DoDo who lives in Missouri. I’m not sure who was acting goofier, Eli or his uncle. 🙂 That’s about it for tonight. I mostly wanted to thank everyone for their notes and let you all know that we arrived safe and sound. We are excited that we won’t have to return to NYC until our next round of 3F8 (assuming we are HAMA negative) on January 5th. Eli’s next HAMA blood draw is scheduled for November 20th. We have started Eli on another round of Accutane and he will actually be doing 2 rounds of Accutane between his last round of 3F8 and his next potential round in January. Thanks for all of your prayers!
