Thanks for your prayers. Wednesday went better than Tuesday and today wasn’t overly terrible, except that they had to keep us an extra hour or so because Eli’s heart rate wouldn’t come back down from 175. We’re not sure why, but they just gave him some extra hydration and it lowered back down to the normal 140. Also, each day he seems to be able to start running around to play a little earlier. Today he was fine by dinner time and spent the evening running around with Kylie, who is Brody Hurt’s older sister. I’ve mentioned Brody from Kansas before as he is also battling Neuroblastoma. It’s a far cry from earlier in the week when he slept from the time treatment ended until it was starting again the next day. He is still having some throwing up episodes, but many times it is directly correlated with connecting or disconnecting the TPN (nutrition in a bag). So, we’re not sure where he stands on his stomach except that his wound is continuing to heal nicely.
So tomorrow is the last day of Round 5 of 3F8! I have to say, knowing that this was the last day and we don’t have to look forward to another week of it after the weekend is VERY nice. If Eli is up for it, we have several fun things planned this weekend. Tomorrow night we are going to go to Coney Island to see the Cyclones play baseball (the Cyclones are a farm team, much like the Iowa Cubs in Des Moines). Saturday the house is taking a bus full of families to Dorney Park in Pennsylvania which is an amusement park like Six Flags. Sunday is a House trip to see the Yankees play the Royals. I’m a bit torn here because I really like what the Yankee organization does for the kids at the house and the hospital, but I was always a Royals fan growing up. Let’s just say that if the Royals win, I’ll have a smile on my face, but I’ll try to keep it to that.
We don’t have anything else scheduled until next Thursday for Eli’s dental work. However, I’m sure we’ll be in the clinic before then to get Eli’s stomach checked up on. Round 6 of 3F8 starts September 8th.
Our Medulloblastoma buddy Coleman should be arriving in NYC from Iowa early next week. We are very excited to see them! Thanks for your prayers as always. We are reminded every day that God is good and has both our ups and our downs under His control.
