Another short one

Eli was pretty tired and sore today. We did a CT to see if anyone could determine if there was a blatantly obvious source of infection, but thankfully that came out ok. Nothing majorly wrong, but once again full of gas.

Eli got another suppository to try to relieve some of that gas and he’s also getting an oral med to try to help it.
One of the interesting discoveries was made by Lacey. She had noticed a small red line yesterday coming from under Eli’s dressing that was still on there from surgery. They planned on taking the dressing off this upcoming Friday. Today it had grown and she asked them to remove the dressing today. They did, and low and behold the incision from surgery was really infected. His belly button looked purple and was full of puss. Sorry for grossing anyone out there. SO, they aren’t convinced that it is the main source of infection that is causing the fevers, but it’s plausible and needs fixed, so at some unknown time tomorrow between operations, Dr. LaQuaglia is going to clean out Eli’s incision. Of course he’ll be under anesthesia for the procedure.

Otherwise, Eli is on antibiotics and is getting every kind of culture possible (blood, urine, stool, incision fluid) to see what exactly it is that he’s trying to fight.

The poor guy is just spent and is constantly uncomfortable, even during the night when he’s trying to sleep. He also has been having nightmares lately, so I have to wake him up and assure him that everything is ok. It was concerning enough to have the doctors request that a psychologist pay him a visit, but she said we were doing the right things to try to help him. I think the best medicine for his nightmares will be to get to start sleeping back at the Ronald McDonald House again! Unfortunately we have no idea when that might be, but it probably won’t be for quite a few more days.

Thank you for your prayers. Even though it feels like a slow process to us, the prayers are being answered in God’s way and in God’s perfect timing.
