Believe it or not, Eli isn’t very upset about going back to New York. He keeps talking about all of his friends there, so I honestly think he’s excited to get to play with his buddies at the house. We also have him excited about a stop we are going to make on the way there. We are going to check out Hershey Park in Hershey, PA on Saturday before getting into the city on Sunday. It’s basically an amusement park like Six Flags and Worlds of Fun. Hopefully that day of fun will be something fresh in his mind he can think/talk about while he’s having a painful week of 3F8. So tomorrow we are all jumping in my trusty Ford Focus and driving to NY. We were going to rent a car one way like we’ve done in the past, but it was going to cost $800 just to rent one for 4 days! I found a place in Manhattan to “storage park” my car for $150/month, so we are just going to drive our own car there and park it for cheap. If you think that’s expensive, I’ll tell you that the parking garage next to the Ronald McDonald House has monthly rates of about $400/month! We’ve been packing all night and are confident that we can get everything into the Focus.
Before heading out, I got an oil change at Midas. Did you know that for the rest of this month, if you get the $35 total maintenance oil change, Midas will donate $5 to Make-A-Wish? PLEASE get your next oil change done at Midas, I was amazed at how much they support in Make-A-Wish. If you are around Ames, make sure you tell Ron at Midas that you know Eli. You’ll see a Make-A-Wish star on the window that says ELIHORN.COM on it. 🙂
So I guess that’s it for now. We’ll head East tomorrow and try to have a day of fun on Saturday before getting to the City on Sunday the 8th. 3F8 starts Monday morning the 9th! Thank you all for your prayers for the effectiveness of the 3F8 and for safe travels driving to New York. Please also pray for our little buddy Sean as he has a surgery on the 9th to remove a new tumor on his spine. He has relapsed MANY times over the past several years, so please pray for him and his family. Also, thanks to everyone who requested bracelets. If you just recently mailed your envelope requesting bracelets and it didn’t arrive by today, it will be at least 4 weeks before I get to it. I was able to fulfill all requests that we had received up until today. I should be able to handle more requests in NYC, so I will post our address once we know what room we have so if you still want to request a bracelet, you can do so without waiting until we get home to Iowa again.
