RT plans

Next week we will be doing scans and possibly starting radiation. We’re going to try to do radiation without anesthesia. If we can do it, he’ll be able to eat during the day. If not, he’ll have to get put under twice a day for 7 days and won’t be able to eat until his afternoon session is done! Plus, Eli waking up from anesthesia is not a pleasant experience. I’m sure he’ll be able to handle it, he has always been a champ with his CTs. Basically he lays in a mold they took of his body while they ‘zap’ his abdomen and legs with radiation. They are pretty much guaranteeing us nausea with the abdomen radiation and they are also saying his counts will drop (something we haven’t had to worry about for months). We’ve never done radiation before, so next week should introduce a new chapter in our book of cancer conquering.

Since next week is scan week, it will be filled with anticipation as we haven’t had any scans done since starting 3F8. We’ll get some sort of indication as to what progress we’ve been making with this 3F8. Bone marrows, urine test, MIBG, and CT is what they refer to as the “work up”. I know I’ll be “worked up” waiting for the results (should take a week or so for everything to be final). Thanks to everyone for your prayers. We are reaping the benefits and can’t imagine doing this without them.

Oh, and we learned since coming to New York that the “thing to do” is to order silicone bracelets for people to wear in support of your fighter. So we did that and they showed up at home just before we came back to NY! They are camouflage and say “Prayer Warrior In Eli’s Army” WWW.ELIHORN.COM. It goes with his newly redesigned (or as my friend David says, reloaded) website. Here’s a picture of what they look like:

I know some of you have yours already, but there are MANY of you that read this CarePage that are going to want to have one (or more). I’m working on a good system for getting them to you all. It’s going to include something along the lines of sending us a prepaid stamped envelope so we can just shove a bracelet in it and drop it in the mail. It gets tricky with sending several and knowing how many stamps you need for your envelope since I know many of you have families that will want 2, 3, 4 bracelets. I’ll figure that out and let you know how to get yours. Obviously, if you’re in NY and want bracelets, just tell us and we’ll hand them to you! We aren’t charging anything for them, I know some people use them as fundraisers, but we just want to give them away. We have already received so much support from everyone that this is our very small “thank you” gift to you all for your faithfulness to continually pray for Eli and our family. More to come on how to get yours later!
