I’m not sure what prompted me to narrate that way, but that’s how it came to mind, so I just wrote what I was thinking. 🙂 While we aren’t NED yet (No Evidence of Disease), we were pleased with the bone marrow results. Things are definitely getting better and not worse, so that is good.
For those of you that couldn’t follow my boxing analogy, here are the basics:
We started Round 7 of chemo yesterday. It is Irinotecan, Carboplatin, and Temozolomide. Drugs that we haven’t done yet. They were hesitant to use high dose cytoxin again because of all of the blood in the urine issues from the last 2 rounds. The bone marrow aspirates are clear, as were the bone marrow biopsy sites from the front, but the biopsies from the back still showed some clusters of Neuroblastoma. Again, the MIBG scan still showed spots on his bones (knees, shoulders, hips, etc.) so we have to use radiation or possibly “hot 3f8” to treat those areas. Before jumping into the 3F8 antibody treatments, we’d really like Eli to be NED (no evidence of disease), which he isn’t yet. That’s why they decided on another round of chemo. We’ll do more testing after this round so we can decide how to proceed with addressing the spots on the bones.
My video guru coworker, Will, Tivoed our appearance on the CBS Early Morning Show and spliced it into a quick YouTube post for those of you that might have missed it. Thanks, Will! The fun thing was hearing from the people who didn’t know in advance that we were going to be on and saw us by chance. 🙂
Thanks for all of your prayers and Merry Christmas wishes. We are looking forward to starting 2008 with 7 rounds of chemo behind us and a years of being cancer free in front of us! Your encouragement over the last 6 months has been amazing. We thank God for all of your love and support.
