Ok, now for the fun stuff! I think we have a reputation for being the family that is up for doing anything fun at the last minute because we always get offers to do fun things at the last minute. When we got back to the Ronald Friday night, the receptionist said, “Hey, would you be interested in going to the Z100’s Jingle Ball 2007 concert?” I said, “Sure, why not? Who’s in it?” She said, “Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne, Backstreet Boys, Jordan Sparks, Fall Out Boys, etc.” I grabbed 3 tickets and ran upstairs to tell Lacey. I noticed the ticket price was $296 per seat, so I got nervous that they were probably REALLY good tickets. I looked them up on the Garden’s website, and sure enough, 7th row on the floor. We knew that would be way too loud for little Isaiah, so we called Gma Barbara and asked if she would like to go with Lacey and Eli to the concert. She was thrilled since she is a big Alicia Keys fan. Here are some shots from their fun night at the concert:
Saturday was a big day because we knew Jeremy and Melissa were coming to visit us for a really quick trip (literally Sat was our only day together). We decided to check out the museum together since we have a membership. In the afternoon they went to check out Central Park while we relaxed in our room at the Ronald. And by relaxed, I mean Eli and I opened the newest Wii game I had bought and played it until they got back. 🙂 Remember the old game Rampage where you climb and destroy the buildings? It’s a BLAST on the Wii, and is Eli’s new all time favorite. Anyway, when they got back, we all headed out to fill an old dream of mine. To watch the Knicks play at Madison Square Garden! This needs some introduction…
Jeremy had mentioned that Melissa would love to see a Knicks game and knew there was one going on against the Nets on Sat night. I told him it would be pretty expensive for us to buy 3 tickets to a Knicks game, so we’d probably pass. However, on Friday, a social worker from Sloan tracked me down and said, “You asked me about free NJ Nets tickets a while back and I came across some tickets to the Knicks and Nets game tomorrow night at the Garden, are you interested?” She had 5, EXACTLY how many we needed! I immediately called Jeremy to make sure he hadn’t bought any cheap seats and he looked up the seat numbers on the Garden’s website and saw that they were 7 rows off of the court, right at half court! $240 per ticket! We were all thrilled and the experience didn’t disappoint. I’m not a celebrity fanatic, but it was cool to see Ashlee Simpson, Pete Wentz, Spike Lee, LL Cool J, and Ahmad Rashad all walking by us and sitting courtside, just 6 rows down. Eli really enjoyed it along with the rest of us.
This slideshow is dedicated to my Hill brother cousins in Springfield who used to jump on the trampoline with me in the early 90’s and recite the entire Knicks starting lineup as we pretended to do their “signature moves” (which of course we made up). That’s the only professional bball team I really cared for growing up and I have NO idea why. What do you want to bet my parents just learned something new about me today? 🙂
