Like I said, we are still able to do some fun things as long as Eli cooperates with his mask, which he has been doing beautifully so far. Thursday was a mega day as there were no tests or scans, so we arranged to visit the Build A Bear Workshop with New York Grandma (Barbara). It was really fun and the employees were very nice to Eli. He ended up going to the Build A Dino section downstairs and that’s where he built T. Rexy. 🙂 Barbara scored us a bunch of coupons from one of the managers which they let us use all at once and New York Grandma had a hard time telling Eli no to any of the accessories, so she loaded him up with roller skates, skateboard equipment, a chair, and more for his dino. Here’s a slideshow for you.
That night, I was talking to the guy that heads up activities at the Ronald McDonald House and he said, “Hey, I have tickets to tonight’s Rangers game, do you guys like hockey?†I said, “Yeah, Eli loves hockey!†He said, “They are really good seats at the Garden, here are four of them.†I looked at the tickets and they were $640 PER TICKET in the Executive box! One issue was that Lacey’s dad, stepmom, and sister were scheduled to arrive at the Ronald about 15 minutes before the hockey game! Once they arrived, we told them the scenario and Betsy graciously volunteered to stay with Isaiah while Lacey, Eli, Bruce, Olivia and I went to the game. We were a bit late since traffic was a bugger, but as soon as we got in our seats, the Rangers scored and the place erupted, which brought a big smile to Eli’s face. I couldn’t actually see the smile because of the mask, but I saw the dimples and he started clapping, so I could imagine what was under the mask. 🙂 When they seated us, they also said, “And here are your gift bags.†They were New York Rangers laptop bags that had a shirt, a jacket, a program, and a hat inside (all Rangers stuff of course). It was awesome. The Garden was incredible. We all laughed at the fact that they had a Sushi bar next to the hot dog and pretzel stand. Go figure. We all had a great time as you can probably tell from the slideshow below (even though they lost to Toronto 2 to 6).
By the way, if those slideshows above don’t work for you for some reason, try checking back later. I have found that sometimes the Google Picasa slideshows don’t work immediately, but when I come back later they are playing just fine. Remember, you can always see the albums at http://photos.hornit.net.
