As soon as we got back to the room, Eli said he needed to sit on the toilet. About 5 minutes later his stomach was feeling just fine. 🙂 We had fun the rest of the afternoon looking at the pictures we had taken and checking out the goodie bag. It was a really great time all thanks to our “Manhattan Angel” Barbara. She and her husband Stewart even sat with us at the party, which was a lot of fun. The picture below is Sean (our police friend who let Eli wear his badge for the ride), myself and Eli obviously, and the one and only Barbara from Candlelighters.

We are getting really close to the time we need to be doing chemo, so the big debate is whether we should do the next round of chemo here or if we’ll be able to make it back in time to get it done in Iowa City. We would obviously prefer to make it back in time to get it done in Iowa City, but we’ll see how the next couple of days go. We need to get out of here and into the Ronald McDonald house for a few days before they are going to be comfortable with sending us back to Iowa. Eli is DEFINITELY acting more and more like himself each day. We just pray this trend continues!
For those interested (not sure how many this includes), yesterday’s lunch was from Tawa (Tasty Indian Food is their slogan). $9 for a Mutton Kebab which was cooked in a clay oven with a side of mixed vegetables and Chicken Marsala. I have to say, the slogan doesn’t lie, it was quite tasty. I can credit Jeremy Pearce from Becker Underwood UK for turning me on to Indian food much like I can credit Greg Waibel for turning me on to Sushi while I was in Brasil. That’s one nice thing about New York, the international cuisine options are quite a bit greater than in Ames, Iowa (although Ames isn’t all that bad thanks to Iowa State’s Engineering College bringing in thousands of international students every year.)

Several of you have already and every single one has gotten a smile (and about 100 questions). He loves it when I ask him if he wants to hear a new voicemail from someone, especially when you mention something he can relate to like Spiderman’s visit or something from back home. Anyway, keep the voicemails coming, they make his day!
I’ll leave you with two more pictures of Eli in his costume…
