Help Eli and His Friends

Ok, I feel the need to submit one last plea for help. This is something that we feel has huge potential for Eli’s future treatment options and I hope you’ll take a few minutes today and tomorrow to help us out. We would be SO grateful if everyone would take a few minutes and do this.

Pepsi is having a contest and will be giving away $250k for first and second place in their ‘health’ category for charities that are competing. Arms Wide Open is a group that is trying to fund more antibody therapies at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center so that kids have more options that are less toxic and damaging than chemotherapy. We are currently bouncing between 2nd and 3rd place and 3rd place doesn’t get anything! The team we are battling against is a group called USaction and they have rallied to get 16 non profits to come together and create a machine that is literally going to take all the money in every category. They have a website that you can get reminder emails and they have full time people focusing on taking the whole million dollars to advance progressive leadership. They propose to spend the money to educate people about the new insurance for young people 26 and under. Here is more information on the group that our kids are competing against for the money: http://openleft.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=19770

Thursday at midnight we need to be in second place. Please help this last push!

To vote by text, just text the number 102653 to 73774.

To vote online, go to http://www.refresheverything.com/armswideopenchildhoodcancerfoundation

It really takes less than a minute to register and cast your vote (make sure it shows that your vote counted, you get 10 votes a day, but can only vote for one group per day, so make sure it says you have 9 votes left or the vote didn’t count). This could really go a long way in getting some funding for our kids that is desperately needed and we’re not asking anyone (besides Pepsi) for a dime! Thanks!

Hi guys…3AM, visiting from NY presbyterian ICU wide awake staring at Jack post surgery. Thought I would check in and say hey. It has been eventful around here to say the least for so many….always know we are thinking of you all and looking forward to a Big Horn Hug. We are hanging in there. This week personally for us was one of the craziest ones we have ever had. So many crazy emotions for all we have to do to our kids, for families that we love, grants we attain, fear we subside, and love we all share. It isn’t a clubhouse any of us wanted to join but there are some of the finest people I have ever met in it. The week was nuts, if you want to check in on a PRETTY COOL MIRACLE unfold though, we may have that covered this week according to many. Read Jack’s last 3 entries to get the blood pumping. AYAYAYAYA!!! Never a dull moment in NYC, but this week, we’ll take it. It has been a wild ride. We are so happy you guys are at home and doing well. I am sending you all big hugs, and looking forward to seeing you all soon. Love, Francesca, Jeff, Jack and Brendan

WAY TO GO ELI…Keep Rocking it!!

      Hey Fran,

First of all, you don’t have to tell me about your week and your miracle. We read each and every update within minutes of you posting them. We even knew of your miracle before you posted since Caryn tipped us off on it. Amazing. We are SO thankful for the news and so happy for you guys! I was smiling when I saw your comment about Dr. LaQuaglia saying “he’s fine” when he first walked in. I love that about him. He knows what the parents want to hear first thing and it’s always the first words out of his mouth. We’ve heard it several times and I can close my eyes and actually hear him saying those magical words. πŸ™‚ I can’t tell you how happy we are for you guys and we’re praying that Rockstar will blow through recovery like the champ he is and be back to rolling his eyes at his parents in record time. πŸ™‚ I loved imagining him giving his thumbs up. πŸ™‚ Give our love to everyone there, but most of all give our love to you and your men. Can’t wait to see you guys again, but until then we’ll be connected online!

      Much Hope and Much Love,
      Aaron, Lacey, Eli and Isaiah
